£1bn boost to support fleets and cut costs

According to an announcement published on the UK Government website (GOV.UK), a £1 billion funding package has been introduced to help businesses transition to electric vans and trucks, while reducing long-term operating costs.

For fleets, this is a significant step forward in making electric vehicles more commercially viable. The funding directly tackles two of the biggest challenges we see day-to-day: high upfront costs and charging infrastructure.

Here’s what’s now available:

• Up to £81,000 off zero-emission HGVs
• Up to £5,000 off electric vans
• Up to £1 million towards depot charging infrastructure (covering up to 70% of costs)

From our side, this creates real opportunities for businesses that may have been sitting on the fence. With stronger manufacturer support, government backing, and improving vehicle availability, the cost gap between electric and diesel continues to close.
