I am sure everyone has been staying home during the past few months and pondering what's next? The answer is no one truly knows, however I would think we can all agree, there is going to be a 'new normal' and major adjustments will be needed.
Whether you have employees that job share and use the same desks, people making one another a cup of tea and the burning question will greetings become a simple awkward bow/nod/wave/body shuffle? It is going to ask a lot of questions of business leaders and how they will come up with the answers...
I for one am anticipating that there will be a need for additional vehicles within fleets. It was quite normal for workers to travel in one vehicle to site or meetings and other business journeys, however this may not be possible for the foreseeable future due to social distancing measures. There is also the recent surge in companies offering deliveries over collections and again, there may be need for this to continue. How about peoples perception on the safety of public transport?
At this moment in time manufacturers have closed factories, importing of non-essential goods could be further delayed and all this will be a back log in new vehicles coming to the UK. This will further neccesitate the demand for short term/flexible hire. W we have always taken a flexible approach with our customers and are constantly developing ways of not just meeting our customers needs but exceeding them when it comes to bespoke vehicle acquisition. Terms like 'hire to buy', 'hire to lease', flexi-lease and sale and leaseback are all methods of funding we have been using for a while but will become increasingly popular when companies are looking to change the way they add vehicles to their fleets.
We take great pride in what we do here to look after our customers and would relish the opportunity to discuss with any new businesses how our flexible working can help this potential short term surge in business when the lockdown starts to ease.
Whilst we wait for the easing of lockdown and for the Government to issue further instructions, the team are all still fully employed and remotely working, the drivers are able to carry out 'contactless' vehicle handovers and in general we are here to help!
From all of us at Southern Motor Contracts and Motorent, we hope you stay safe and look forward to hearing from past, present and potential new customers in the future!
